Key Differentiators

Comprehensive Development Strategies

IHO finds holistic development solutions for the communities we serve utilizing creative financing, sustainable technologies, economic development principles, and programs that equip residents for long-term success.

Mixed-Income + Mixed-Populations

We believe vibrant communities include residents from diverse backgrounds, income levels, and abilities to encourage peer mentorship, healthy habits, and discourage silos.

Community Impact + Engagement

Partnering with community stakeholders is a hallmark of IHO’s work. Crafting a shared community vision with mutual accountability is our commitment.

Architecture + Art

IHO enhances communities with beautiful design, landscapes, and public spaces. We incorporate the arts, local culture, and creative placemaking wherever possible.

Authenticity

Our commitment to justice and inclusion is reflected in our leadership, staff, board, and equitable business practices. We leverage our influence to support and empower diverse businesses and practitioners.

It Starts With Housing

At IHO, we say it starts with housing, but our impact is more than building homes. It is our investment in the resiliency and economic empowerment of our residents. We want our residents to put down roots in their communities. That’s why we provide them with services and programs to build upon their strengths, increase their social impact, and fulfill their personal growth and well-being.
We encourage health and wellness, education and workforce development, financial literacy, arts, cultural and intergenerational activities, community building, and comprehensive youth services. In IHO’s bi-annual surveys, our residents report that they benefit from improved physical and mental health since living in our affordable housing communities.
Our programming success is informed by assessing resident needs, mapping local amenities and resources, building strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement, and engaging with the surrounding community. In this way, we remain authentic, collaborative, inclusive, mindful, and fully respect the diverse and multicultural aspects of our residents.

Impact Case Studies

What sets us apart is also what drives our greatest impact. We strive to develop vibrant mixed-use communities of diverse backgrounds, income levels, and abilities to encourage peer mentorship, healthy habits, and discourage silos. We are committed to advancing art and local culture in the communities where we build, by incorporating beautiful design, creative placemaking, and welcoming public spaces into our properties. Our commitment to justice and inclusion is reflected in our leadership, staff, board, and equitable business practices that reflect the communities that we serve. More than that, we leverage our influence to support and empower diverse businesses and practitioners.
At IHO, we strive to build a legacy that ignites powerful change, for our residents, our communities, and our industry.

Our Vision: To Ignite Powerful Change

The Exploring Your Dreams  workshop series helps individuals focus on passion and strengths, identify roadblocks, create priorities, and work on essential soft skills. Parents and their children can attend the workshops and explore aspirations together.
Financial Literacy and Workforce Development are program priorities. In partnership with JP Morgan Chase, Lincoln Financial, and individual volunteers, IHO helps residents create financial goals, increase income, build savings, repair credit, and understand how investments can create generational wealth for themselves and their families.
In partnership with Anaheim Mayor’s office, Wells Fargo, Muzeo, and community members, IHO celebrated arts and culture with a Spring Art Fair. Residents submitted original art featured in an art exhibition, local artists conducted workshops, dancers demonstrated their artistry, and participants enjoyed classical music by students from the University of California, Irvine Opera program.
Exploring Career & College Options is a workshop for high school students and their parents to plan for their future by providing information about community colleges, universities, and vocational training opportunities.
IHO links residents with resources to help with individual needs, including rent and utility assistance, food assistance, legal aid services, healthcare, job training, and transportation. This close collaboration includes partners and volunteers who help IHO increase the number of services and community referrals to better serve its residents.
